The Altai Territory boasts the highest mountain and the longest and deepest cave in Siberia. The fauna of Altai is attractive with a large number of endemics, namely those animals that are unique to this region. Due to the large number of places difficult for humans to reach, many unique animals have been preserved here. Throughout Altai, there are up to 89 species of mammals, about 320 species of birds and 9 species of reptiles. Such a wealth of fauna is explained by the difference in the landscape of this remarkable region.
