The longest and deepest river in the world, the Amazon, is located in South America. The river arose more than 9 million years ago. On its way, it crosses several countries, but the main part of the river falls on the territory of Brazil.
The Amazon Basin is home to the world’s largest tropical rainforest. The climate of the Amazon contributed to the fact that a huge variety of the most diverse flora and fauna originated here. According to scientists, 10% of the species composition of the world’s animals is concentrated on the shores of the Amazon. A lot of mammals, amphibians, birds, reptiles, arthropods, fish, insects live here. Some of them are not even described and not studied.
