Blackzoboy Gagara belongs to the domain of eukaryotes, the type of chordovs, the Gagarshaped detachment, the Shasharov family, the genus Gagar. Forms a separate look. This is a unique representative of the genus. Differs in an extraordinary color that surprises ripples.

Description

It is characterized by the appearance of waterfowl. A little surpasses the duck in size. Has an oblong body and short narrow wings. The beak of a bird is elongated, direct shape, pointed. The edges of the beak are smooth.

Due to the location of the legs, it does not particularly move. While on land, prefers to lie on the belly. On the front three fingers there is a membrane contributing to a comfortable floating. The body is covered with an unnecessary plumage. Steering feathers are shortened and almost not noticeable.

The spring appearance of ash-gray. The upper region of the head and the back of the thick neck of black with purple and green overflows. A number of whitish longitudinal stripes are located on the lateral sections of the neck and across the throat. Sides black, abdominal and axillary zones white.

The beak of the bird is completely black. The iris of the eye is dark red, closer to the drill. The outer part of the legs is black, the inner is light gray with blue. Closer to the winter period acquires a dull shade. Adults at this time are like young birds, but the tone of the back is somewhat darker.

Young birds have a brown-gray color, gray head and neck, white sides. Whitish beak on the base and gray at the top. By the way, it is almost impossible to distinguish a young blackeyed gagar from redzone. Except that the former has a direct beak shape.

Blackzoboy Gagara is a waterfowl bird, therefore it connects its life with reservoirs. Excellent swimmer, knows how to dive under water and stay there for more than 2 minutes. Only takes off from the water with a run.

Flies in a straight path, not very fast. Can make various sounds similar to wheezing. During the flight, something like “ha … ha … Garaaaaaaa”. In the nest, it is loudly and extended by “ku-ku-iiiiiiii”.

Habitat

Flies in the spring when the rivers drop the ice. As a rule, they return in April. Migrate two or three flocks from 2 to 5 birds. But sometimes you can find numerous groups.

Nests are built in deaf flattering stands near the lakes. Prefer gentle insignificantly overgrown coastline lines. Also do not disdain swampy areas. On land does not move, therefore builds nests next to the reservoirs.

Nests in the Arctic and subtropical zones of our continent, capturing small areas of the Western regions of Alaska. The most beloved European countries are Norway, Sweden, Finland and Scotland. In Eurasia, the southern island of New Earth has been inhabited. Sometimes Kolguev pops up with Vaigach. Lives next to the Kola Peninsula and Karelia.

Food

The main diet includes small and medium fish. Hunt, both near the house and flying beyond. Not averse to enjoy crustaceans, worms, mollusks, water insects. Sometimes they eat frogs.
