Brusnik Berry contraindications and therapeutic properties, description and photo

Many people underestimate the healing properties of plants. Lingonberry belongs to the representative of the heather family. The plant is widely used in the medical, cosmetic and culinary region. With the help of drugs on its basis, you can cure a lot of diseases and improve the overall wellbeing of a person. Lingonberries grow in the forest, in the tundra of mountain and plain types, sometimes it can be found in a swamp, herbal fields and alpine meadows. The plant is common in Ukraine, Eurasia, in the Caucasus, in some regions of Europe and Asia.

Description and chemical composition

Brusnik grows in the form of a small shrub reaches 30 cm in length. This is an evergreen plant horizontally. The representative of the heather family has straight and branchy stems, beautiful rounded leaves located alternately on short petioles. The flowers grow small, have a white or pink whisk. Their shape is a juggle, it gathers in a two- or eight-green brush. The fruits of the medicinal plant have a bright red color and rarely when they reach a diameter of more than 8 mm.

Brusniks can be collected in August, the plant bears fruit until September. The life expectancy of a representative of the heather family reaches 300 years, the plant begins to bloom after 10-15 years.

All elements of lingonberries have a unique chemical composition. Thus, the content of organic acids, flavonoids, tannins, catechins, macro and trace elements, arbutin and methylaritutin was found in the leaves. Berries contain organic acids, including ascorbic acid, vitamins, sugar and essential oil. The seeds have a fatty oil consisting of glycerides.

Therapeutic properties of the plant

In the field of medicine, both plant berries and its leaves are used. Brusnikbased preparations have antiinflammatory, diuretic, bactericidal, sore, diuretic effects. Also, the use of lingonberries is indicated in the presence of the following problems:

  • urinary tract diseases;
  • kidneys and gall bladder stones;
  • inflammatory processes in the liver;
  • Disorders of the digestive tract (flatulence, constipation, having chronic character, hypoacid gastritis, putrefactive diarrhea);
  • osteochondrosis;
  • gout;
  • cystitis;
  • atherosclerosis;
  • diabetes;
  • Diseases of the female genital organs (infertility, uterine bleeding).
  • Drugs with lingonberries are used to treat helminths, strengthen capillaries, with tuberculosis and coughing with blood discharge.

    Brusnik berries are often prescribed to pregnant women, since plant fruits are rich in vitamins, benzoic acid, essential oils, pectin, polyphenols. Plant fruits are considered an environmentally friendly product, they are hypoallergenic and contribute to improving metabolism, strengthening the heart, raising a general tone and normalizing the work of the nervous system. Thanks to the unique composition, the use of berries will remove swelling, stabilize pressure, strengthen the bone system of the mother, saturate the body with iron, potassium and manganese.

    Contraindications for use

    There are certain contraindications to the use of lingonberries and drugs with its addition. Before using the medicine, you should carefully study this information and possible side effects. It is not recommended to use lingonberries to people with kidney problems suffering from hypotension and sick cholecystitis. Hypersensitive patients should also refrain from taking drugs based on a medicinal plant.

    It is recommended to start using lingonberries with small doses. If the overall health does not deteriorate, then you can safely increase the dosage.
