  • Character

The Brussels Griffon is a decorative companion dog, cheerful and active. She does not tolerate loneliness, needs constant communication, so it is advisable not to leave her alone for a long time. Prefers to spend as much time as possible with the owner, tolerates moving well and will keep company when traveling.

If the dog becomes attached to someone, he will try to be with this person constantly, seven days a week: sleeping next to him, being in the bathroom or in the kitchen, in the living room or in the hallway. No matter what the owner is doing, the pet will always be near him.

This is a curious and friendly dog, but it should not be given to families with small children: despite its goodwill, the Belgian Griffon will not tolerate children’s antics. In addition, this is a very jealous creature.

Despite their small size, Griffons have the qualities of guard dogs: they will bark if someone approaches the front door. At the same time, these pets can be shy around strangers.

    Care

Representatives of this breed have a hard coat that cannot be cut with a special machine or scissors, since the coat will no longer shine, become dull and soft. Griffons need to be trimmed, and it is recommended to comb them thoroughly twice a week. After a walk, the dog can be wiped with a damp cloth, but without the use of hygiene products, so as not to provoke an allergy.

It is necessary to wash the pet as it gets dirty, using a special shampoo for dogs with coarse hair. It is recommended to regularly wipe the wrinkles on the face with water to remove dust and dirt, as well as to prevent the development of infections.

This dog does not need special physical activity, but it is advisable to walk it twice a day. Sometimes it is worth arranging long walks so that the pet can throw out energy.

In addition, it is necessary to carefully monitor the diet of the dog: if the Griffon is overfed, then he may face obesity and associated diseases.

    Conditions of detention

The small size of the dog allows you to keep it in an ordinary city apartment, but the pet should not be left alone for a long time. The owner must determine for him a place to rest and sleep. Subsequently, it is there that you can find slippers or children’s toys: these dogs love to collect scattered things at their side.

In the heat, the Griffon feels rather bad, and therefore it is desirable to create comfortable and safe conditions for him: the dog should always have access to water and the opportunity to hide in a cool place.
