To visit the desert, it is not necessary to go to Africa or Australia. Deserts and semideserts are located in Eurasia. The most reduced part of the Caspian lowland is occupied by deserts, where flat surfaces alternate with sand deposits. The climate here is sharply continental: very hot and dry summer, cold and lowsnow winter. Except for the Volga and Akhtuba, there are no other sources of water here. There are several oases in the deltes of these rivers.
The half-deserts of Eurasia are located in the southeast of the European part of the country, starting in the area of the Left Bank of the Volga and reaching the foothills of the Caucasian mountains. This is the western part of the Caspian and the Urgeny Upland. There is also sharply continental and dry climate. Water arteries of the semidesert zones Volga and Sarpinsky lakes.
A small amount of precipitation falls on the territory of deserts and semideserts up to 350 millimeters per year. Mostly soils here are sandy and desert-steppe.
The word “desert” suggests that there is no life here. But it is not so.
Climate of deserts and semidesert Eurasia
The climatic conditions of deserts and semideserts influenced the formation of a special flora and fauna. Vegetation in this zone is located mosaically. Perennial herbs ephemeroids spread in the semideserts in the semideserts. Ephemers are also growing here, the life cycle of which is two to three months. In general, the plants are small, but have a powerful root system. In the area of halfdeserts, black wormwood and hodgepodge are growing, a bulbi rebel and a twocolumen coniferous, camel spine and a flash. Closer to the Caspian Sea, the semidesert goes into the desert, where the vegetation is less and less. Sometimes you can see Elmius, Wormwood or Volnyets here.
In contrast to the poor flora, a lot of animals live in deserts and semideserts: rodents, predators, large animals. Susliks and tushki, hamsters and field mice, steppe wars and cakes, vipers and fleshs, saigas and eared hedgehogs, as well as many birds, for example pink pelican lives here.
Environmental problems of deserts and semideserts of Eurasia
If we talk about the environmental problems of deserts and semideserts of Eurasia, then the very intervention of man in the nature of this area is a danger. The desertification process itself is the extreme degree of soil erosion - leads to significant changes, especially under the influence of anthropogenic factors. Another problem of deserts and semideserts of Eurasia is the poaching and extermination of animals, plants in large numbers. And since some rare types live here, human activity causes serious damage to nature. Therefore, it is necessary to protect and maintain landscapes of deserts and halfdeserts of the country, since this is the wealth of our planet.
