Shepherds and cattle dogs, except for Swiss cattle dogs
Grushendal is one of the four breeds of Belgian shepherds. It is impossible to confuse him with anyone: these fluffy black dogs look like a bear.
The history of the origin of Grushendal is closely connected with its relatives other Belgian shepherds. Until the end of the 19th century, there was no uniform breed in Belgium. The shepherds of the dog looked completely different, but still called the common name “Belgian Shepherd”. Only in 1890 it was decided to divide the breed into several types and streamline selection.
The history of the origin of the name Gruntal is interesting. In 1898, the Belgian restaurateur and a big fan of the shepherd Nicholas Rose decided to engage in breeding black dogs. According to one version, the breed was named after his estate Shato Grushendal. However, other researchers argue that Grushendal is the name of the restaurant, the owner of which was Mr. Rose.
Grunenadl is also an excellent guard, and a watchman. Representatives of the breed serve not only in the police and in the army, but are also found as a guide. Legends go about their performance! In Germany, they often replace their German relatives.
Grushendal a dog of one owner. For a devoted dog, the highest happiness is to spend time next to his man. Representatives of the breed are very attentive students, they easily and quickly absorb teams. But nothing can be achieved by force from these dogs only with the help of affection and love can you make contact with a pet.
Belgian shepherd must be socialized in time. Especially if the dog lives outside the city. Starting from two or three months, the puppy must be carefully taken for walks, introduce him to the outside world.
Grushendal sociable dog. He is warmly treated to children, as if “grazing” them, protects and protects them. However, he will not endure cruel treatment, so the kids should know the rules of behavior with the dog in order to avoid unpleasant situations.
Gruntal is indifferent to animals in the house. Cats and rodents are of little interest to him, therefore, as a rule, the dog easily gets along with them.
A characteristic feature and main advantage of Gruntal is a chic black wool. For the dog to look wellgroomed, it is combed out a couple of times a week. During molting, the procedure is repeated more often-up to 3-4 times.
It is important to periodically bathe a pet using a special shampoo and air conditioner they will make the wool soft and silky.
Conditions of detention
Containing a pet of this breed in the apartment is problematic. He will feel much better in a private house. Grushendal perfectly tolerates the most unpleasant weather conditions, including rain and snow. Freedomloving dog will not be able to live on a chain. My own insulated aviary and free walking in the courtyard will be ideal for him.
