  • Character

Graihound aristocrat, intellectual and holder of excellent manners. A slender, muscular and sophisticated dog has a balanced character. He is independent, but devoted to the owner; unobtrusive, but affectionate; active, but not prone to pogroms in the apartment in a word, this is one of the best representatives of the greyhound group.

Graihound very subtly feels the environment surrounding him, the atmosphere in the house, the mood of the owner and is able to adapt to them. He is balanced and calm. To preserve the mental organization of the dog, the owner should never increase his voice on him. On the contrary, sometimes gracounts are so timid that they have to work with them on the eradication of this line. By the way, educating Greihund is quite easy: it is smart and grasps information on the fly. Sometimes, however, it is inattentive, but this does not happen so often and not with all representatives of the breed.

Despite love for the owner and devotion to him, Greihound is able to calmly endure loneliness. He is quite selfsufficient and knows what to occupy himself without showing destructive behavior. However, nevertheless, it is not worth leaving the dog for a long time: it will begin to yearn hard.

Graihound has long been an excellent hunter and participant in dog jogging. He is able to develop a speed of more than 60 km/h and catch up with a hare, which is a high indicator of its athletism. Perhaps it is precisely because of the hunting instinct to this dog to get along with cats and other small animals. He perceives them as prey. But with children, Greihound quickly finds a common language, sharing pampering and outdoor games with them.

    Care

Graihound has a short wool that does not require careful care. To remove the dropped hairs, you can wipe the dog with a damp towel and comb with a massage brush.

After each walk, it is recommended to inspect Greihund for scratches and other damage. If necessary, the wound should be treated. The fact is that these dogs have a very thin and delicate skin that is easy to damage, and the owner must keep this in mind.

    Conditions of detention

Graihound cannot live in a cramped apartment it will be good only outside the city, in the house with a spacious courtyard. Being a magnificent runner, Greihound constantly needs physical exertion and energy release. By the way, it is good precisely as a sprinter, that is, at short distances, where explosive force is required.

On a walk with the Graihound, you need to carefully monitor the situation, since small animals can excite the imagination of a hunting dog and arouse instincts in it. That is why a walk without a leash is possible only in nature, in a wellvisible area.

The thin skin of representatives of this breed and the absence of a dense undercoat made them extremely sensitive to weather conditions. That is why it is so important in the cold season to insulate Greyund, otherwise the dog will freeze and can get sick.
