Description

One of the smallest marine mammals. Individuals that make up the naval pig family, outwardly and in the structure of the skeleton are quite similar to dolphins. They also have a fishlike body with tail horizontal fins.

For reference: the oldest petrified remains of guinea pigs found in the northern part of the Pacific Ocean are dated to the late myocena (about 10-12 million. years ago). Around the same time, the first real dolphins appeared, and the common ancestor of these two families Kentriodontidae is dying shortly after.

The sea pigs, although not capable of communication through speech, still exchange information, using various signals in the form of clicks and whistles. Moreover, the signals used by these animals are only impulse in nature, at the same time, dolphins are fixed in monotonal whistles. Some types of impulse signals are needed for echolocation, others serve to display the emotions of the individual. These are fast and mobile swimmers that develop speeds up to 55 km/h (15 m/s).

Appearance

The guinea pig is inferior in size to other representatives of the dolphin. The length of her body usually does not exceed 2 m, and weight is 100 kg. They have a fairly powerful, stocky body of streamlined shape, and a triangular spoon of triangular shape is well visible on their backs. The overall color of the body of the guinea pig is bluish-gray, the fins are darker. The lower side of the body is much lighter than the upper, but this boundary is fuzzy. This type of albinism has a more frequent phenomenon than other dolphins. It seems that the guinea pig is always goodnatured and peacefully. At least, it is this impression that makes the expression of her muzzle with a shortened rostrum.

The head has a blunt shape, and the beak is completely absent. The teeth are sharp, on each jaw there can be more than 30 pieces. With age, they can fall out and grind.

Red Book and Number

Entered in the KK Eurasia (2001). Category: 3 rare subspecies decreasing in the number. Listed in the red list of MSOP-96, Appendix 2 Sites. It is necessary to develop measures that prevent random changes.

Accounting 1985-1987. approximately revealed the total number of the Black Sea Guinea pig about 10 thousand.. The population was here for several post-war years, when over one thousand guinea pigs fell over only one g-aloman, and 3-4 thousand they took them in a year. Recruiting, environmental pollution the main factors limiting the population in the Black Sea. A lot of these animals die from an accidental hit in fishing networks and traps. Great damage causes death in the ice in the Sea of Azov in harsh winters. The helminth list includes 3 types of tape worms, 4 saucers, 9 nematodes, 2 types of scraper. In the Black Sea, there is a livestock infection with their round worm with Stenurus ovatus, which affects the hearing of these dolphins. Captivity is poorly tolerated, however, 150 individuals of this species were not contained in the world.

What zone lives in

They live mainly in the shelf waters of the oceans and the seas of the Northern Hemisphere, as well as off the coast of South America and Southeast Asia. Distributed throughout the continental train of the Black Sea, and also live on the deep parts of the reservoir and often swim in the territory with a low level of salt. They are found in the northwestern estuaries. Sometimes you can see this mammal in the waters of rivers located in the south. They prefer to stay in bays, bays, films, estuaries and lower reaches of rivers.

Fact! In March-April, part of the dolphins is crossed through the strait to Kerch and goes back only closer to November.

There are stupid dolphins in the Marmary Sea, small groups can come across in the Aegean Sea, but there are no Mediterranean in other parts of the Mediterranean.

Emerging ordinary or careless varieties, it is much more difficult to notice, although the first species with strong excitement or when pursuit of fish can jump out of water horizontally. The California sea pig, even very few scientists had to observe it in the marriage period of many species, was especially for a certain season usually the end of spring the beginning of summer. Pregnancy lasts 9-10 months, after which one cub is born. At birth, the baby’s body length is 65-85 cm and it weighs about 5 kilograms.
