On the territory of Uzbekistan there is another arid region (land with arid climate) of our planet – Sand-stone Kyzylkum. The territory of the desert is located on three hundred thousand square kilometers and has a small slope.

Translated from the Uzbek language, the name Kyzylkum or Kyzyl-Kum – Red sands. This is one of the few deserts of the world that is well mastered by man.

Climate

The climate in the desert is sharp. The summer temperature is on average at around 30 degrees, and the maximum can reach above 50 degrees. Winter is less severe and the average temperature in the first month of the year rarely drops below the mark minus nine degrees.

No more than two hundred millimeters per year falls off, the bulk of which falls at the end of the winter and the beginning of the spring period.

Plants

Flora Kyzyl-Kuma is quite diverse, especially in the spring, when the soil is most moisturized. Bright representatives of this desert: wild tulips, ephemeers that ripen in just a few weeks (and in desert conditions — it is very important);

And in order to reduce the need for lifegiving moisture, they prefer to relax in the shadow of plants or in burrows in the daytime. All activity begins at night. The mammalian class is represented by the following views: Jayran (a small antelope weighing up to 33 kg); Earth Asian Squirrel (mainly lives on marching and sandy hills); wolf; spotted cat, which appeared approximately 130 thousand. years ago; the bats; Steppe fox – Corsac.

The desert is located on the territory of three states: Uzbekistan (it is on its territory that most of the desert is located); Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. In the east, the Nuratinsky ridge and spurs of the mountain chain of the Tien Shan is limited to the desert. From the northwest, the desert limits the dry salty sea Aral.

There are small mountain massifs on the desert – Tamdytau (maximum height on Mount Aktau 922 meters); Kuljuktau (the maximum point is at an altitude of 785 meters); Buantau (the highest point 764 meters).

Most of the Kyzyl-Kum – Sandy dunes that stretch from north to south. Their height varies from three to thirty meters (maximum height seventyfive meters). In the northwest in the deserted relief there are salt marshes and takyra.

Interesting Facts

At first, the Kyzyl-Kum desert seems lifeless and completely not interesting. But here are a few fascinating facts about Kyzyl-Kum:

  • In 1982 «Yalla» She sang about the city of Uchkuduk, which is in the very heart of the desert;
  • Not far from the mountains. Zarafshan is one of the world’s largest gold deposits (Muruntau);
  • Chocolate sweets are named after the desert. They taste almost the same as famous sweets “Kara-kum”;
  • Amazing, but in the desert, a uranium is mined with a career way. The field is located near g. STRUCKENT;
  • Next to the ruins of the Kirk-Kyz-Kala fortress, Hum (a vessel made of clay in the form of a female head) was found inside which there were human bones. Fire worshipers buried their deceased so. Previously, the bones were left in the sun (a separate platform was adapted for these purposes), and the animals and birds completely cleaned them from the flesh.
  • Capal drawings in the desert can be seen on the territory of the Bakantau Mining array. And some images are very similar to human beings.
