The history of the Lancashire Heeler is full of mysteries. It is believed that the official breeding of the breed began in the 1970s. Welsh corgis and Manchester terriers were used in the selection, they are today their closest relatives. However, some scientists are convinced that the real ancestors of the healers lived on the British Isles several hundred years ago, but, alas, they died out.

One way or another, the Lancashire Heeler was registered in the International Cynological Federation quite recently in 2016, and on an experimental basis.
Lancashire healer a little fidget and a “perpetual motion machine”. He can play, run and have fun almost all day. At the same time, these dogs are not only funny companions, but also excellent helpers. In their homeland, in the UK, they diligently graze and protect livestock. And the key advantages of a hard worker-healer are responsibility and diligence.
Representatives of the breed easily memorize commands and quickly learn them. True, the owner will still need patience and endurance, because just like that, the dog is unlikely to do something. The best motivation for most pets of this breed is a treat, but they also respond quite well to affection. The choice is always up to the owner.

Care
The short coat of the Lancashire Heeler does not need to be carefully and painstakingly looked after. It is enough to wipe the dog with a damp towel or just with your hand as the hairs fall out. During the shedding period, it should be combed out 2-3 times a week with a massage brush. What is important to pay attention to is the condition of the dog’s teeth. They need to be inspected and cleaned every week.
Conditions of detention
The Lancashire Heeler, despite its small size, needs long walks around the city. The more active and diverse the physical exercises, the better. The healer can safely be offered fetching and various running workouts. A tired pet will thank you.
