Types and varieties
Of the 25 types of lavaters in our gardens, only a few. But the varieties of breeders brought a huge amount.
Types of lavaters:
Wild rose is propagated without problems with seeds and seedlings. Seeds are of good germination, and seedlings are with survival. From nonhybrid plants, you can collect seeds for landing.
Like most plants, lavather can be planted in two ways seeds and seedlings. The second method is more laborious, but it allows you to get flowering plants 2-3 weeks earlier.
In regions with a mild climate, a simpler way is practiced direct sowing seeds in the ground. Sitting is produced at the end of April or early May.
How to sow lavather:
- Prepare the site for landing. Detail the soil, bringing humus 10 l per 1 sq. m, and 2 st. l. nitrofoski.
- Close the dug area with a rake and make a furrow 1 cm deep on it.
- Pour the prepared furrows with warm water.
- Dare dry seeds and sprinkle them with soil mixture consisting of equal parts of garden soil and humus. Hindness depth-5-8 mm.
- Cover the crops with a transparent film.
In a week, there will appear seedlings. When their height reaches 5 cm, the film is removed. The crops are thinned out, and the soils are slightly hilled. If necessary, fertilizers are introduced if during the preparation of the site they were not introduced.
Recommended landing scheme-in nests of 5-7 pieces with intervals 15-20 cm. Distance between holes-50-80 cm. With this landing, lush flower beds from the lavatater are obtained.
The seedling method allows you to bring the time of flowering, but requires additional efforts from the flower grower. Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out about 2 months before planting in the ground. If the transplant to the garden is planned to be in May, then they begin in early March.
How to grow up lavaters:
- Prepare a container for sowing. Pour a drainage layer to the bottom of the boxes.
- Fill the container with a purchased substrate for seedlings.
- Pour it with warm defended water and sow the seeds in the grooves or holes. The depth of the seal no more than 10 mm.
- Cover the crops with glass or transparent film.
- Regularly preferably every day, ventilate crops, removing condensate from film or glass. Periodically water the crops. The first shoots will appear after about 15 days.
- Seeds provide highquality lighting. If necessary, turn on the backlight. If the light is not enough, the seedlings will begin to stretch and thin out.
- After 4-5 days, when the seedlings grow a little, the film can be removed.
- Lavathers’ care for seedlings consists in regular watering and turning over the box so that all plants receive equally lighting.
Usually the seedlings of a wild rose do not dive. When the seedlings grow up, and stable warm weather will be installed on the street, they are transplanted into the ground.
The deadlines of the seedlings are selected taking into account the local climate and the current weather situation. If winters are warm, you can plant a lavater at the end of April. It is not worth rushing in regions with harsh winters it is recommended to carry out the suction in the last days of May.
How to plant lavaters seedlings:
- Prepare the soil in a welllit place dig and loosen.
- On the site, make holes according to the scheme of 20×25 cm.
- Pour the holes with warm withloted water.
- Plant the seedlings, sprinkling the roots with the soil and tamping it a little with your fingers.
Lavather, though unpretentious, but requires a certain share of attention. So that the plant grows well and lush, it is enough to observe a number of agricultural rules and recommendations.
Wild rose is demanding to the sun, so they plant it in welllit areas. In the shadow of the lavather can grow, but worse, flowering will not be so luxurious. The flowers in shading are less bright and large, and their number is less.
Moisturize flower beds with lavather as needed. The plant is resistant to droughts, but without water it will not be able to fully absorb nutrients. But also excessive moisture for the flower is harmful the water will intensively wash out the beneficial substances from the soil.
It is enough to water the plants in the heat once a week. Watering rate-20-30 liters of water per adult bush, no less. Otherwise moisture will not reach long roots. In normal summer, without drought, water has to be watered even-once every 2-3 weeks, in the rainy periods, watering is not needed at all.
Lavather can grow without additional top dressing, but in order for the bush to fully realize its natural capabilities he bloomed for a long time and magnificently, a couple of times per vegetation is applied.
When and how to feed the lavater:
Top dressing on poor soils is especially important. But on ordinary garden soil, the flower is enough for the power to be submitted for digging.
The annual Khutma is pulled out in the fall with the roots she has already outlived her age. True, seeds could fall from the bush, culture can develop by selfsowing, and young flowers can rise in the area in the spring. Perennial lavather is left to winter on the site.
How to equip the wintering of perennial:
Collection of seeds
After wilting and falling buds, their place is occupied by green boxes with ripening seeds. When their color changes to brown, it’s time to collect seeds. The ripened seeds acquire a gray-brown color, they can be easily poured out of the seed box.
Wild rose seeds are usually collected at the beginning of autumn. They are scattered on a piece of paper and dried. Dry seeds are poured into paper bags or linen bags.
Diseases and pests
Adult lavaters rarely get sick. They are resistant to both bacterial and fungal diseases. Pests are also not particularly interested in wild rose, which is why beginners and busy summer residents are recommended to plant this plant.
