The longtailed tit has a very long tail, an elegant appearance and the ability to build complex nests. This bird is widespread, including in Eurasia. Most often it can be found in the forest, but sometimes it flies into city parks.
What does a longtailed tint look like
Tits belong to the detachment of sparrows, which automatically means small sizes. The body length of this blue is only 12-15 centimeters, of which most of the tail occupies most. The “tail” can reach almost 11 centimeters. The maximum mass of an adult bird is only nine grams.

Longtailed tit is the owner of a beautiful outfit. Three colors reign in her plumage: white, black and slightly pink, which harmoniously add each other. There are three clear color areas on feathers. So, the head, neck and almost the entire lower body are white, the sides and back have a pinkish tint. The tail and wings are painted in a mixture of black, white and gray tones.

A longtailed tit lives in deciduous and mixed forests, gardens, parks, thickets along the banks of rivers, shrubs. It inhabit many European territories, small Asia, China, Korea, Japan. In Eurasia, it is most widely represented in the Siberian region.
Favorite places of nesting of longtailed tits are hardtoreach thickets of willow or dense birch. Often the nest is built in a dense shrub near the reservoir. Longtailed tit is an excellent nests builder.
The nest of this bird is a design of an eggshaped shape with the upper location of the Letka (entrance). The main material for the construction is moss, but the main feature is its strengthening using a web or licentious cocoons of insects. Thanks to, such a “braid” of the walls of the nests are very thick and warm. At the end of the construction, the longtailed tit is overwhelming the nest with small pieces of bark and lichen, and inside it creates a soft litter of feathers.
Owls are usually seen in groups of 8-20 birds, and these rapidly moving flocks give themselves out characteristic contact sounds. Invitingly the cry of birds a sharp “Tsurp”, repeated several times. When to hear it, it is easily remembered, and often hearing chirping-this is the first sign that a small group of ilvens is located somewhere nearby.
Food of longtailed tits
