Minerals of China map, deposit, production

Rocks and minerals of China are diverse. They occur in different parts of the country, depending on the landforms. By contribution to world resources, China takes third place and has about 12% of world resources. 158 species of fossils were explored in the country. The first place is occupied by the reserves of gypsum, titanium, vanadia, graphite, barita, magnesite, mirabeti, etc.

Fuel resources

The main energy resource of the country is oil and gas. They are mined in server provinces and autonomous regions of the PRC. Also, oil products are produced in the shelf of the southeastern coast. There are 6 districts in total where there are deposits, and the processing of raw materials is also being processed:

  • Squeezes quite large coal reserves, according to estimates, the reserves of this natural resource are about 1 trillion tons. It is mined in central provinces and in the northwest of China. The largest deposits are in the province of Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and Shanxi.

    China has a great potential of shale from which shale gas can be extracted. Its production is only developing, but in a few years the production of this mineral will be greatly increased.

    ore minerals

    China’s main metal minerals are as follows:

  • iron ores;
  • chromium;
  • titanium ores;
  • manganese;
  • vanadium;
  • copper ore;
  • tin.
  • All these ores are optimally represented in the country. They are mined in the quarries of Guanaxi and Panzhihua, Hunan and Sichuan, Hubei and Guizhou.
    Among the rarest ores and precious metals are mercury, antimony, aluminum, cobalt, mercury, silver, lead, zinc, gold, bismuth, tungsten, nickel, molybdenum and platinum.

    non-metallic minerals

    Non-metallic minerals are used in the chemical and metallurgical industries as an auxiliary tool. These are asbestos and sulfur, mica and kaolin, graphite and gypsum, phosphorus.
    A lot of precious and semi-precious stones are mined in China:

  • nephritis;
  • diamonds;
  • turquoise;
  • rhinestone.
  • Thus, China is the largest developer of deposits of combustible, metallic and non-metallic natural resources. The country has a huge amount of minerals exported. However, there are minerals and rocks that are not enough in the country and they are bought from other countries. In addition to energy resources, China has leading ore minerals. Gemstones and minerals are important.
