Character
The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is one of the most famous breeds native to Poland. The first mention of it dates back to the 13th century, but not a single book describes the origin of this shaggy shepherd dog. Experts are still arguing about who is the ancestor of the breed. Some are convinced that these are local Polish dogs, crossed with shepherd breeds brought from Scotland. Others, and most of them, believe that among the ancestors of the Polish Lowland Sheepdog there are puli and bergamasco.

One way or another, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog has always been popular among shepherds. These small dogs did not frighten sheep and cows, so they could safely work with animals. At the same time, Polish Lowland Shepherd Dogs did not perform such a function as protecting the herd from predators larger and stronger relatives coped with this.
Today, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a wonderful companion for families with children. These pets treat kids with love and are always ready to support the game. However, shepherd dogs are extremely stubborn, they often try to dominate if, in their opinion, the owner is not strong enough in character. So the owner of the Polish lowland shepherd must definitely show who is the boss in the house. This is necessary so that the pet clearly understands the hierarchy of the family and its place in it. Particular attention should be paid to the education of representatives of this breed. They are famous for their intellectual abilities, but can be lazy. Owner needs to be patient.
Affectionate and gentle in the family circle, Polish Lowland Shepherd Dogs are distrustful of strangers. They will be happy to notify the family about the doorbell or the appearance of a guest on the territory of the house. These dogs do not need to be taught to guard the house or family these skills are in their blood.
Care
The first thing that catches your eye when looking at the Polish Lowland Sheepdog is her hair. Shaggy dogs have a double coat with an undercoat. And it needs proper care. At least once a week, representatives of the breed should be combed out with a furminator and do not forget to inspect the eyes and ears hidden behind the hairs. Wash them as needed. During molting, the procedure is repeated twice a week. In summer, in order for the dog to look neat and well-groomed, it is necessary to monitor its cleanliness, periodically check the coat for dirt, grass and thorns that have clung to the walk.
Conditions of detention
Despite the fact that the Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a herding dog, it does not need many hours of walking and jogging. It is enough to walk with her daily for two to three hours, play and exercise. Therefore, she is considered an ideal city dweller.
