The Hungarian national breed Pumi is revered at home for extraordinary abuse and quick wits. It comes from another Hungarian shepherd of the breed a shepherd of a bullet, the ancestors of which were brought to the territory of modern Hungary in the 9th century. At the end of the XVII century, these dogs were actively crossed with German Spitz and French BRIAR. A little later, herds of finewaisted sheep and small Pyrenee mountain dogs accompanying them began to import into the country. It is believed that it was they who played a key role in the formation of the modern type of PUMI, giving the breed a shorter and bothering wool. The first famous Pumi drawing dates back to the beginning of the 19th century.

PUMI curious, funny dogs interested in everything that happens around. Many owners note their incredible observation, due to which sometimes it may seem that the pet is reading thoughts. This is a very affectionate breed of dogs. They love their family, but have a tendency to become attached to one person, usually to the one who spends the most time with the dog. Great for families with children.

Puri likes to study, but they do not like a boring and monotonous repetition of exercises. You can keep their attention by turning classes into a game with rewards. It is also worth noting that it is unacceptable to apply aggressive training methods to these dogs.

Dogs of this breed get along well with other pets. Aggression on the part of neighbors in relation to themselves PUMI is usually ignored, but do not let such relationships on a gear. They love to hunt rodents, so it is not recommended to start a dog of this breed if you have a hamster, a guinea pig or a rat.

It is worth noting that PUMI can have some problems with behavior. These include excessive barking and the desire of the “mouth” of people. Barking is a common feature of all shepherds. They are always on guard and are ready to notify the owner that they don’t like. However, PUMI can be taught when it is appropriate to bark and when not. Attempts to graze people, especially children, are often found in young dogs. This behavior is that the puppy bites a person by the legs or pants, trying to attract attention in this way and direct the owner in some direction.

Like most of the shepherdial breeds of dogs, Puri is suspicious and restrained in relation to strangers, as well as careful in new or unusual situations. That is why it is important to socialize puppies at an early age and introduce them to different people, conditions and circumstances, so that they can learn to adapt. It is worth noting that timely socialization and a sufficient amount of mental and physical activity will minimize all possible problems of behavior.

In general, PUMI is a healthy breed, but it has a tendency to some genetic diseases. The most common of them are various joint diseases. It is worth remembering that responsible breeders always conduct genetic tests and do not bred sick animals.

A big plus of the breed is that the pomi is not fed. However, there are also disadvantages: for example, their thin wavy wool is constantly tangled and falls into the tangles. To avoid this, the pet must be combed out at least once a week. You can bathe dogs of this breed as necessary. Also, Puri wool must be trimmed 2-4 times a year. It is also worth monitoring the length of the claws of the pet.

    Conditions of detention

PUMI is a working dog, so it needs sufficient physical exertion. Dancing or adjility will be perfect for her. This is a small breed, so it will feel good both in a city apartment and in a house with her own site.
