Brief information
Character
These energetic dogs helped the Scheteland farmers: they drove away from the possessions of animals and drove sheep into the herd. Shelti always plays sports with pleasure, quickly assimilates all the teams and performs them with great enthusiasm. In addition, she loves active walks very much, this breed is not in vain one of the most commonly used in Adjility.
Shelti is perfect for families with children or people who are fond of outdoor activities: it will be happy to make a company in any campaign on nature.
This breed is one of the most friendly and companional, its representatives easily get along with all family members and become universal pets thanks to their sociable and cheerful morals. Shelti are completely nonaggressive, easily grasp the rules of the game and the daily routine in the family. During training, they look in an interest and catch every word.
Care
Shelti’s hair care is not as complicated as it might seem at first glance. The fact is that the shepherd work demanded that the dogs of this breed of great endurance and unpretentiousness. For many years, these dogs carried their service in the fields in any weather. If we compare Shelti with other longhaired rocks having a softer structure of wool, then the “shepherds” are much easier to care for. Their coat is practically not tangled, and the dirt crumbles itself, as soon as the paws dry out. It is enough to comb the dog once or twice a week.

As for the rest of the departure, it is not much different from the care of dogs of other breeds: clawing, brushing and eyes, regular walks.
Thanks to their ancestors, who lived in the harsh climate of the Shetland Islands, dogs have good health and rarely bother the owner. It is enough to carry out regular vaccination and process from fleas and ticks so that the dog lives happily and happily.
Conditions of detention
Shelty rightfully deserved the title of one of the best companions dogs. Small dimensions allow it to exist perfectly in urban conditions and feel comfortable even in a small apartment.
Shell coat of shelti gives her the opportunity to live all year round on the street, in the aviary. Most professional breeders prefer the aviary content, since harsh winters help to build up a thick undercoat that will look spectacular at exhibitions.
On the other hand, a sociable shelti is not very suitable for a secluded life away from the owner. The smartness and activity of the pet require constant contact with people. As a rule, shelti is very dreary in the aviary, and the dog tries to occupy himself, abusing the barking.
If the dog lives in an apartment, it is important to devote enough time to regular walks with a pet.
