Character
The Singapura cat is one of the few breeds that can boast of authenticity. The ancestors of this breed 50 years ago ran through the ports and streets of Singapore, a city-state in Indonesia. They are still common in that region, like doves or sparrows in Europe. Agile, fast and quick-witted, these cats have been surviving in an urban environment for decades without claiming to be domesticated. However, in the 80s of the last century, a group of American felinologists brought several native cats to the United States, where a program of official recognition of the breed was launched. Brought Singapuras interbred with each other. As a result, the American branch developed its own characteristic features, mainly related to color. If in the state itself there are a variety of colors of these “port” cats, then today the standard of Singapore recognizes only two: ivory and sable-brown. At the same time, this breed remains aboriginal it has retained many natural qualities, including excellent health.
At the first meeting, special attention in the appearance of the Singaporean cat is attracted by its expressive eyes. Their beauty lies not only in size and color, but also in the depth of their gaze. Everything is always interesting in Singapore, so surprise and curiosity are usually captured on her face. Cats of this breed always want to know what is happening around, what each member of the family is doing, where he is. They are constantly moving, carefully observing people. Since the ancestors of the Singapura had to be constantly on the alert, these cats prefer high surfaces from which a good view opens. They are also very active: they love to jump, climb, climb into the most secluded parts of the apartment.

However, despite their street origins, Singapura cats are very attached to the family and do not tolerate loneliness. They require a lot of attention from the owners, which partially can replace the society of other pets with whom Singapores get along well. They are playful and sociable, so they will feel good in a family with a child.
Because of its sensitivity, this breed is not suitable for every person. Singapores understand the mood of the owner, instantly capture changes in the voice, his intonation. Their health worsens if the family is communicating in high colors, negative emotions prevail.
By their nature, the Singapores are shy, they look at strangers for a long time, but subsequently they do not deprive anyone with their attention. These are handloving affection and attention to their person.

Care
The coat of the Singaporean cat is short, it fits snugly to the body, does not get tangled. Pets need to be washed twice a year on average. It is much more necessary to brush the cat’s teeth, as malnutrition and stress affect their condition.
Singapura need to be combed as needed, mainly it is required during molting.
Conditions of detention
Representatives of this breed need a lot of space, they need the ability to run, climb various surfaces and hide. They also feel great when walking. It is necessary to accustom a cat to the street from the very childhood, so that she is not afraid of the city and noise.

The Singapura cat likes to climb into those places at home where a person rarely visits, so general cleaning with such a pet should be done more often.
