History of origin
Cycologists have not come to a consensus: according to one version, Walhunds were brought to the territory of Britain by the Vikings from the Southern Swedish provinces of Vlessi-Getaland and Skone, where cattle breeding was developed since ancient times, and then the Swedish dogs remained in its original form, and the British brought out the blessings Corgi; According to another version-exactly the opposite: Valh-Corgi was brought to Sweden, Valhunds came from them.
Indeed, the similarity is obvious. And by the way, kutsuhniy and hairless puppies are not uncommon. Here are just the color of the Swedish shepherd dogs of a wolf, not as elegant as the British.
These dogs were once used as shepherds, they guarded houses and cattle, were considered excellent rat-catchers, and attacking in a pack, they drove away both predators and thieves. But with the development of technological progress, the need for working dogs almost disappeared, and by the forties of the last century, the breed was on the verge of extinction. Swedish Kennel Club and specifically breeders Bjorn von Rosen and K. G. Zettersten were able to save the breed: in 1943, the Walhunds they bred were recognized by local cynologists, and in 1954, the IFF.
Valhunds cannot be called a fashionable and popular breed, but the number of fans of these dogs is growing, they are bred not only in Sweden, but also in many European countries, as well as in Canada and the USA.

The coat is medium length, dense, rather harsh, with a thick and soft undercoat. On the chest and neck a little longer, behind “panties”. The color of the wolf, various shades of gray, Ryzhin and white marks on the chest, stomach, paws, as well as a “asterisk” on the forehead are allowed. Despite the small size, it looks like a serious working dog.
Character
Smart, easily trained valhunds are very energetic. If their energy is not directed into a peaceful direction, then the dogs themselves will find entertainment, and not the fact that the owners will be happy with the results. As an option adjility or other dog sports.
Despite the short legs, these dogs jump perfectly and will be fun and tirelessly run next to the owners on a bicycle walk. They get along well with other pets, excellent companions. By the way, the courage of the Walhunds cannot be occupied: to drive the enemy much more than themselves, they can easily.
Care
The dense, rather hard coat gets dirty a little and is easily self-cleaning, so this dog will not cause difficulties in caring, you need to comb and bathe it as needed. Walhunds endure the cold without problems, but in the city it will not hurt to wear a light waterproof overall that protects against reagents that are sprinkled on the roads.
Conditions of detention
Dogs can live both outside the city and, thanks to their compact size, in apartments, the main thing is to give them enough physical activity. They also love company. Cheerful, cheerful animals do not tolerate loneliness and cramped enclosed space. Therefore, if the owner’s lifestyle suggests that the dog will sit alone all day, then a good solution is to get two Walhunds at once!
Valhunds in Russia are considered a rare breed, and it is quite difficult to find a puppy from domestic breeders. But in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Belgium in nurseries you can always choose a baby. Prices ranging from 200 to 1000 euros, plus shipping costs.
