On the Tarim’s hollow between the mountains of Tien Shan and Kunlun, one of the largest and most dangerous deserts of the world-the Takla-Makan desert spread its sands. According to one version of Takla-Makan, translated from an ancient language means “Death Desert”.
Climate
The Takla-Makan desert can be called a classic desert, since the climate in it is one of the harsh on the planet. And also in the desert there are unsteady sands, real paradise oases and confusing mirages. In the spring-summer period, the thermometer column is at the mark of forty degrees above zero. The sand in the daytime is hot up to one hundred degrees Celsius, which is comparable to the boiling point of water. The temperature of the autumn-winter period drops to minus twenty degrees of frost.
Since precipitation in the “death deserts” falls only about 50 mm, here is not rare sandy, but especially dust storms.
Plants
As expected, in the harsh conditions of the desert very poor vegetation. The main representatives of the flora in Takla-Makan-camel spine.

Where is the Takla-Makan desert located
Sands of the Chinese desert Takla-Makan spread out on 337 thousand square kilometers. On the map, this desert resembles an elongated melon and is located in the heart. In the north, the sands reach the mountains of the Tien Shan, and to the south to reach for the Kun-lun mountains. In the east in the area of Lake Lobnor, the Takla-Makan desert joins the Gobi desert. The desert stretches to the west until Kargalyk County (Kashgar District).
Sandy dunes of Takla-Makan stretch from east to west by 1.5 thousand kilometers, and from north to south of about six hundred and fifty kilometers.

Relief
The relief of the Takla-Makan desert is quite monotonous. On the edges of the desert are salt marshes and low local sand embankments. Moving deep into the deserts, you can find sandy dunes, rising by about 1 kilometer, and sand ridges with a height of nine hundred meters.
In ancient times, it was precisely this desert that part of the Great Silk Road passed. In the area of Sinajian in the unsteady sands, more than a dozen caravans disappeared.
Most of the sands in the Takla-Makan desert have a golden color, but there are bright red sands.
The desert is not uncommon, which without much difficulty tolerates huge sand masses to green oases, destroying them irrevocably.
