Where it lives
At the moment, the insect is found in the USA and Canada, on the territory of Malaya and Central Asia. The beetle lives in Portugal and in the Southern Urals, in the south of England and Sweden, in Kazakhstan. In Eurasia, the beauty of the Pacific is found in Kaliningrad and in the Sverdlovsk region. Recently, the species was introduced to North America. The beauty of the plowing prefers a broadleaved forest, sometimes this insect can be found in the coniferous forest, in the park or in the garden.
Appearance
The length of the body of the insect is 35 mm. The body of the beetle is elongated and the head is small. The eyes were large. Film antishocks are divided into 11 segments. The front of the insect is dark blue. There are many parallel depressions on greenish overlap with a golden tint. Abdomen beetles are black, like her paws. The limbs of the insect are well adapted to run. Beauty has quite powerful stiffs, which helps to keep the victim.
What eats
This representative of the beetle is a rather aggressive predator, entomophage. He feeds on larvae of butterflies and silkworm monashenes, eating them along with hairs. Adult butterfly can also be its prey. Having caught the victim, the insect immediately begins to look for a place for lunch. When he cannot pull the butterfly down, the beauty eats it right on the bitch. The beetle distinguishes enzymes softening the body of prey, and holds it with tenacious paws. Larvae of beauty can eat puppets of ring silkworm, during the summer, beetles in this stage are able to eat about 20 such insects.
Larvae
Larvae has beauty of the smell large, covered with black plates on top. Dark dots are located on the sides. The jaws of the larvae are powerful, the paws already become tenacious, which allows you to walk not only on horizontal surfaces.
The beauty is active from May to September. In the spring, the beetlers pass long distances to find prey. In the afternoon they are in shelter, usually under stones or in leaf fall. At night, insects go hunting. When the danger approaches, the beetle runs or shoots with an anal gland liquid.
Reproduction
The propagation period begins in the spring, and ends in the summer. After mating, females make a masonry in which 100-650 eggs. After 5-14 days, larvae begin to appear. In July, offspring pupates, being underground, at a depth of 20 cm. Woglanders pass the stage of the doll from August to September and winter in cocoons.
