Breton Epanyol, also known as Breton and Breton spaniel, officially appeared in France in the 19th century, but images of dogs similar to him date back to the 17th century. The ancestors of Breton are considered English setter and small spaniels.
Britten specially for hunting and birds, Breton was especially popular among poachers. All thanks to the unconditional obedience and performance of the dog.
Breton Epanyol belongs to one master who is for him to everyone. This affects not only his character, but also on working methods. Breton never goes far from the hunter and is always in sight.
Today, Breton Epanoles is often started as a companion. Representatives of this breed are very attached to the family, they need constant communication with people. Therefore, leaving a pet is not recommended for a long time. Alone, the dog begins to get nervous and yearn.
One of the best qualities of Epanyol is obedience. Dog training begin early, already from two months, but fullfledged training at this age, of course, do not conduct. Breeders are engaged with puppies in a playful way. Real dressing begins only at 7-8 months. If the owner does not have much experience with animals, it is advisable to entrust this to a professional, despite the fact that Epanyol is a very attentive and responsible student.
Breton Epanole at first glance seems quite restrained and not too emotional. But it is not so. With distrust, the dog refers only to strangers. As soon as she recognizes the “interlocutor” closer, there is no trace of deliberate coldness, and she openly accepts new people.
With children, Breton Epanyol will probably get along. Smart dogs carefully play with kids and can endure their antics.
With animals in the house of representatives of this breed, relations are most often formed normally. Problems can only be with birds, but this is a rarity.
Care
Care for the thick wool of Breton Epanyol is simple. It is enough to comb the dog once a week, thus removing the dropped hairs. During molting, the animal is combed a couple of times a week using a massage brush.
They bathe the dog as they become so contaminated, but not too often. Breton wool is covered with a fat layer that protects it from getting wet.
Conditions of detention
Breton Epanyol approaches the role of a city resident, he feels great in the apartment. At the same time, it is important to walk with the dog two to three times a day, providing it with the proper load. In addition, it is advisable to go with a pet to the forest or to nature so that he can run properly and play in the fresh air.
Particular attention is paid to the diet of a pet. Like spaniels, these stocky dogs are prone to fullness, so it is important to control their diet and portion size.
