Types and types of swamps in Eurasia and the world

With each city, the size of the swamps is constantly changing: some increase due to a large amount of precipitation, others dry or undergo artificial drainage. Be that as it may, the swamp is understood as a plot of land with high humidity, which is formed in the process of overgrowing by the reservoir with vegetation and closing the area.

The main classification of swamps

There are three main types of swamps:

  1. Lowland as a rule, they occur at the place of lakes, on rivers located at a reduced level. Sites all the time are flooded with water. As a result of the intake of groundwater, massive overgrowing of the surface of mosses begins, as well as various seditions and cereals, begins. Dogging territories can have willow and alder. In most cases, there are not many peat in the swamps, the maximum power is 1.5 meters.
  2. Riding in most cases, the nutrition of such swamps occurs due to the loss of atmospheric precipitation. They are located on surfaces that have a flat shape. On the swampy territories, sphagnum moss grows, fluffy, lobillar, cranberries, heather, as well as pine, larch and birch. The peat layer in the top swamps reaches 10 meters, there are cases when it significantly exceeds this indicator.
  3. Transitional popularly call them mixed. Territories are in the transitional stage between lowland and riding swamps. At the time when the lowland areas accumulate plant residues, an increase in the surface of the swamp occurs.

Any of the types of swamps is important for human life, as it is a source of peat, a humidifier of air and a habitat for many animal species. Healing plants are also growing in the swamps, the berries of which are used even in the food industry.

Types of swamps on micro- and macro-relief

Highlight tubercular, convex and flat types of swamps. They are divided by microrelief. Bugar areas have characteristic peat formations that can be several centimeters and even meters. Convex swamps are characterized by a characteristic shape. Sephagne mosses grow abundantly in the areas. Flat swamps are concentrated in lowlands and feed on water, which is rich in minerals.

According to the macrorelief, swamps are valued, flooded, sloping and waterstriped types.

Other classifications of swamps

There are other classifications of swamps, according to which areas are forest, shrub, grass and moss type. On forest swamps, the dominance of wood, sphagnum and green mosses are dominated. Most often, such areas are found in lowpowered territories.

Shrub swamps inherent in standing or slowly current water. The vegetation of this area is expressed by shrubs and oppressed pines.

Herbal swamps overgrown with sedge, reed, ceremic and other vegetation. Mokhovs are distinguished by the whereabouts: they are concentrated on plains, slopes and watershed. In addition to the moss (main plant), you can find blueberries, lingonberries, cranberries, lobilies and other biological kingdoms on the territory.
