Wolves are a whole set of species of predatory animals belonging to the family. In simple words, these are predators that look like dogs, and known throughout the globe ball.
Wolves inhabit almost all continents of the globe, except Antarctica. They are hunted and afraid, they are fascinated and composed of fairy tales. In Russian folk tales, the image of a wolf plays a special role. Who does not know a gray wolf, which is found in almost every folk work for children! By the way, “gray” is not only a wellaimed nickname from the people’s authors, but the official name of one of the types of wolves.
Types of wolves
Gray (ordinary) wolf
This species is most common in our country. In the world, its maximum distribution has historically developed in Eurasia and North America. The wolf is subjected to regular extermination. And often not only for the purposes of selfish production, but to protect. Wolves are predatory animals, besides this flock. Their attack on herds of pets and even people spending the night in the forest are not uncommon. Block instinct allows the wolves to surround prey, effectively pursue it, use the effect of surprise.
In turn, the extermination of a gray wolf led to a reduction in its number. The number of individuals in some regions of the Earth decreased so much that the view became the face of disappearance within these territories. The gray wolf has several subspecies: forest, tundra, deserted and others. Outwardly, they differ in color, which often repeats the colors of the area where a specific wolf lives.
polar Wolf
Wolves of this species live in the Arctic and are the rarest. These are beautiful animals with thick snowwhite fur and outwardly very similar to dogs. The wool of the polar wolf is characterized by high density and low thermal conductivity.
The fodder base of the polar wolves is very scarce, since in the area of their historical habitat there are not so many animals suitable for food. To facilitate hunting, wolves of this species have a very sharp scent and excellent vision. Unlike representatives of other species, polar wolves eat the entire prey, leaving no bones or skin. The basis of the diet is small rodents, hares and northern deer.
Red Wolf
This type of wolves is at risk of complete disappearance. On the territory of Eurasia, it is entered in the Red Book. The red wolf is very different from its gray counterparts, representing a certain mixture of a wolf, fox and jackal. The name comes from red wool. Red wolves feed not only animal, but also plant foods, for example, wild rhubarb.
Griviste Wolf
The animal is very similar to the fox and lives in the savannah of South America. The classic wolves differs in a single way of hunting. His diet includes both animal and plant foods, up to fruits. This species is rare, but not endowed with a special regime of saving.
