Yellow Link (Cubes) Photo and description of the plant from the Red Book

In nature, there is an unimaginable number of different plants: from microscopic algae to giant trees of the genus sequoia. Depending on the habitat, plants can be not only terrestrial (growing in soil, on stones, on other plants), but also water. Flowering plants blooming on the surface of the water are the most unusual and beautiful.

The yellow water lily or, in another way, the cube, belongs to the perennial grassy plants of the Kuvshinkov family. Its name is associated with the outer shape of a flower resembling a low jug. The plant of this kind was first described at the beginning of the 19th century in England by James Smith Botanist James. The jug is very noticeable on the water due to its bright yellow color. It easily tolerates semileaving conditions, has healing properties. Also, the jaundice has the ability to cleanse water bodies where it grows, water does not “bloom”.

The structure and appearance of the water lily

Since the yellow water lily lives in the aquatic environment, it needs support, which will not allow it to demolish the random current. Therefore, the plant has a powerful fleshy rhizome (up to 10 cm in length) with rather long roots that reliably hold it in the ground.

Small and thin submarine leaves are attached to the stem using short petioles. Leaves floating on water have a round or oval shape, light green color and leather surface. Their cuttings are trihedral and long. In the width, their leaf plate can reach 20 cm.

A water lily, like all flowering, is a pollinated plant. Its alcoholic aroma attracts many insects, and in some cases there is also selfpollination. Pestle and stamens are located in the flower. Oblong dust agents are painted yellow. The cup consists of 5-6 green stupids from the outside and yellow inside. The cube has single yellow flowers with many petals in a whisk. The diameter of the flowers is approximately 5 cm. Flower petals have an inverted heartshaped shape.

Smooth fruits form, 4-5 mm in length in the oval-conical ovary of the flower. They are a box with a large number of seeds that develop in water until the end of summer and ripen at the very beginning of autumn.

The propagation of the jug of the yellow

The yellow cube propagates with the help of seeds, as well as a vegetative way. In the spring, the streams of water of the parts of its rhizomes are torn off and carried away at a certain distance. Established in the ground, they grow roots that give life to the new plant.

Distribution and habitat of the water lily

The yellow cube is common exclusively in plain areas. In Eurasia, it can be found in the territories of the Caucasus, Siberia and in the European part of the country. It grows in fresh reservoirs at depths up to 1 meter. The lining feels very well in lakes, ponds and other reservoirs with standing water or in rivers with a weak current, including backwater.

Use and use of a water lily

Yellow jug has effective healing properties. However, it is necessary to be very careful in the independent preparation of any infusions, since in raw form all its components are poisonous. Poisoning in this case is usually accompanied by vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, drowsiness and general malaise of the body.

For a long time, the water lily was used as a medicinal plant. With the help of its flowers, rheumatism, gout, insomnia were treated. Headache, burns and erysipelas retreated when using compresses from yellow cube leaves. On the basis of the rhizome of the water lilies treated coughing, skin diseases toothache and stomach pain. This plant is very effective in the fight against diseases of the genitourinary system (including trichomonal colpitis), as well as as an antipyretic and antiinflammatory agent. The nuflein contained in parts of the yellow water liliary in the production of contraceptive drugs.

All drugs on its basis have a number of contraindications: children’s age, pregnancy, lactation, intolerance to individual components. It is also not recommended to use them with reduced blood pressure.

The yellow cube is very often specially planted in water bodies of garden plots for decorative purposes. In addition, unlike other types of family, it is quite unpretentious in landing and care.

The environmental status

The yellow jug is not included in the MSOP list (International Nature Conservation Union). It is believed that the population of this plant at the global level does not threaten nothing. However, the water liliary in this species is included in the red books of individual regions of Eurasia, for example, the Krasnodar Territory, and has the status “vulnerable”.

The thing is that the water lily is very slowly restored. With its intense workpiece for use for medicinal and decorative purposes, it may disappear completely in a separate area.

Polition of water lilies, land reclamation by drainage, as well as pollution of reservoirs, associated mainly with human economic activity, are threatening factors for the existence of a type.

Extremely important are a number of measures aimed at preserving and increasing the number of this plant. These include:

  • the call of the population to refuse to collect flowering individuals of a water lilia for bouquets;
  • control of the plant population in its habitats;
  • the protection of water lilies at the federal and regional levels, including in the territories of reserves, reserves and national parks;
  • The return of artificially grown plants to the natural environment of its habitat.
  • The yellow water lily is a beautiful and useful plant for any natural ecosystem and for humans. In this regard, it is he who needs to be able to competently use the gifts presented by nature, not exterminating them, but caring and increasing any of them.
